Aluminium Profile manufacturing
Manufacturing Process Procedure
for T-Slot Aluminum Profile 6063 Grade with Anodizing Finish.
1. Raw Material Selection
Select 6063 aluminium alloy billets with the required chemical composition as per ASTM B221.
Ensure billets are free from impurities and defects.
2. Preheating
Heat the aluminium billets in a homogenising furnace at 450–500°C to improve extrusion quality for 3–4 hours.
Allow billets to cool before loading onto the extrusion press.
3. Extrusion Process
Load preheated billets into the extrusion press.
Use a T-slot aluminium profile die to meet the required dimensions and tolerances.
Extrude aluminium through the die at a temperature range of 480–520°C.
Ensure proper lubrication and cooling during the process.
Use a puller and stretcher to maintain straightness and remove internal stresses.
4. T6 Heat Treatment
Solution Treatment: Heat the extruded profiles to 530–560°C for sufficient time to dissolve alloying elements.
Quenching: Rapidly cool the profiles using air or water spray to retain the dissolved elements.
Ageing Process: Age the profiles at 160–180°C for 6–8 hours to achieve T6 hardness.
5. Precision Cutting & Machining
Cut extruded profiles to the required lengths using CNC cutting machines.
Perform any additional machining, such as drilling, tapping, or slot cutting, as per customer specifications.
6. Surface Pre-Treatment for Anodizing
Clean the aluminum profiles using an alkaline or acid-based degreasing solution to remove dirt and oxides.
Rinse thoroughly in deionized water to prevent contamination.
7. Anodizing Process
Immerse the profiles in an electrolytic bath (sulfuric acid-based) at 18–22°C.
Apply DC to achieve an anodised layer thickness of 10–25 microns, depending on the application.
Rinse and neutralise the profiles to remove acid residues.
8. Quality Inspection
Conduct dimensional checks using callipers, micrometres,
Verify anodizing thickness using an eddy current thickness gauge.
9. Packing & Dispatch
Protect profiles with plastic wrapping, foam, or paper interleaving to prevent scratches.
Bundle profiles securely using wooden crates or cardboard boxes for safe transportation.
Label each batch with product specifications, batch number, and anodising details.
9. Final Documentation & Shipping
Dispatch profiles as per customer requirements with necessary transportation documentation.
This procedure ensures high-quality T-slot aluminium profiles with a durable anodised finish suitable for industrial and structural applications.
